62rebel Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 so, that's what it looks like with a dual blower hemi.... i have a spare clear hood for this kit if you'd like to display it with "high-vis" ability. i'm certain we'll see this one again eventually; it hasn't been OOP that long. nice build!
59 Impala Posted January 23, 2012 Author Posted January 23, 2012 (edited) Thanks guys, and Curt I have the clear hood also. Thanks for the offer. All I had in the beginning was the body. I scrounged for the other parts. I had an interior that I had to piece together and the frame came from an altered wheelbase Falcon that I had to stretch to fit the Stude. I also had to add about 1/4 inch to the bottom of the roll cage because it is made for the chopped top Stude. Zipper (Chris) sent me the body about a year ago and this is how it turned out. Thanks Chris. I really enjoyed buiding this fer sure. Dan Edited January 23, 2012 by 59 Impala
moparmadman829 Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 awsome build as has been said in here already hopefully rerelease this one sometime soon would to get a couple of these for myself ...
59 Impala Posted January 23, 2012 Author Posted January 23, 2012 Thanks Thomas. I hope they re-release it also. The bumpers and tail lights were done with Alclad. The tail lights are resin copies of the original transparent red ones from the original kit. I hate the all chrome lights that they put in this kit. I wonder why AMT issued the re-releases with the all chrome ones when they had the molds for the red and chrome pieces already. Dan
59 Impala Posted January 24, 2012 Author Posted January 24, 2012 Thanks fer the kind comments guys. I had a lot of fun buildin it. This is the first model that I didn't use Testors enamels on. I used Custom Colors somethin somethin copper paint. I think it is enamel also but it had a slite different smell to it. I did use enamel. reducer to thin it with. Since I painted this I mixed the rest of the paint with other colors to see how the paint will turn out. This came in a 1 ounce jar and one of the guys in the BSAC car club gave it to me. I got in real deep doo-doo with the wife because of the smell. I had ato think fast and come up with an answer for her and I did. I spilled some of it and the smell went all over the basement and she flipped out. Almost cost me to get rid of all the models and start a new hobby. But, I calmed her down and all's well now. Phew, that was close. Dan
