C-82? I thought it was a C-119 "Flying Boxcar" At least the ORIGINAL, with Jimmy Sterwart was, if I remember correctly.

No, the movie plane was a Fairchild C-82, the first iteration of the "Flying Boxcar" aircraft. C-82's came along right at the end of WW-II, flew some in Korea, and were phased out in favor of the much better Fairchild C-119. There were a few C-82's used in civilian service in the 50's and 60's though.
