Guest Posted January 26, 2012 Posted January 26, 2012 It's either contaminates on the primer or may be you have a bad can of paint. If you are decanting the paint and airbrushing it on,the paint may have not gassed out entirely. If you are spraying straight from the can, you're holding it too close and the propellant is causing the bubbles. I've got a bubble or two before, but nothing like that. When I do get a bubble,I take a straight pin and pop it while it's still wet. The paint won't lay down perfect of course, but it will lay down a lot and make it easier to sand out.

Guest Posted January 27, 2012 Posted January 27, 2012 I think I would try getting a new can of paint then. It looks like propellant is getting trapped under the paint and trying to escape especially since it's doing it after you spray it on. Try holding the can farther away on a scrap body and see what it does.
Scale-Master Posted January 27, 2012 Posted January 27, 2012 (edited) It looks like it could be moisture or some other contaminant under/in the paint. Have you tried to pop or pull off any of those bumps after the paint dried? If they are hollow, it could be water or propellant. Edited January 27, 2012 by Scale-Master
stulee11 Posted January 27, 2012 Author Posted January 27, 2012 Are those coming up as you are painting, or after the paint has been applied? Brendan Posted January 27, 2012 Posted January 27, 2012 I'm with Mark on this one. It looks like it's moisture to me getting caught under the paint. A lot of times you won't notice it till the paint starts to dry. What I've done in the past to help get rid of the moisture after wet sanding the primer is I wipe the model down with denatured alcohol. That seems to dry everything out and you can put your color coat on in a short time after doing it.
stulee11 Posted January 27, 2012 Author Posted January 27, 2012 is that the same as methylated spirits?????
Scale-Master Posted January 27, 2012 Posted January 27, 2012 You say you "rub it down". Have you punctured any of those bumps to see what is in them? If something is trapped in the bubbles, and you just push or rub them down, the problem element is still in there. So the problem will come back until the contaminant is eliminated.

Scale-Master Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 It does sound like it could be the propellant. Sometimes spraying too close to the parts can cause that.
