walt francis Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 I am really liking this alot because I am in the middle of this custom cord and yours is a really sweet idea so keep it coming
Ira Posted February 1, 2012 Author Posted February 1, 2012 Mirroring the Rear!!! I cut the trunk off at about the new halfway point. Then I cut out a similar section of the trunk from the second Cord Body... I cut and fit the trunk sections untill they fit together nicely. Then I glued them with Zap-A-Gap & Testors Red Label. The New Rear End shape is startng to come together!
Nitrozilla Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 So far so good. Where do the thrusters go?
Modellpularn Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 Ira my friend, you have a deranged mind! And I say this with a twinkle in my eye.... I'm impressed with your imagination, and wonder how you come up with these wild ideas....
Ira Posted February 1, 2012 Author Posted February 1, 2012 Wow! This is sounding like an interesting concept. Gonna keep following this build. Thanks Peter!
espo Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 This is coming together great. Your ideas on the rear of the body is almost like a factory prototype. Keep it up.
Ira Posted February 1, 2012 Author Posted February 1, 2012 Looks like this is going to be a wild builld. I can't wait for more. Thanks Jim!
Ira Posted February 2, 2012 Author Posted February 2, 2012 BOAT TAIL!!! Going for the Boat Tail Look! I marked out the top wider than the bottom section.
Ira Posted February 2, 2012 Author Posted February 2, 2012 Making The CUTS!!! The first cuts were made with a Dremel tool and a large Cut-Off Wheel. Things were evened up with a sanding block and 60 Grade Sandpaper...
Ira Posted February 2, 2012 Author Posted February 2, 2012 Sides On! I traced the openings onto sheet plastic and cut out the shapes. I attached the plastic with Zap-A-Gap & Testors Red Label Glue.
Ira Posted February 2, 2012 Author Posted February 2, 2012 There Goes The Front!!! I cut the front end from the Corvette... I narrowed the Corvette front end, by about 3", and cut & fit it on to the front of the Cord Body.
CorvairJim Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 Oh hell yeah! I like where this is going. You're combining two of my all-time favorites here. I'm sure Cord designer Gordon Buehrig would approve of where this is going, and Sting Ray designers Bill Mitchell and Larry Shinoda would be flat-out intrigued! I'm definitely gonna follow this one, and maybe do my own take on it some time...
Ira Posted February 2, 2012 Author Posted February 2, 2012 Rear Wheel Drive!!! Bracing up the Fender Unit with sheet plastic. Then I cut out the area between the fenders with a Dremel & cut off wheel. Here it is with the new front end in place...
DumpyDan Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 I like it looks cool, and 4 head lights better to see you with. LOL
