Bartster Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 I'm getting ready to paint my 1st resin body. 24 hr soak in Bleche white done. Scrub in warm soapy water done. I use Krylon brilliant silver or gold as primer on styrene. Is this sufficient for resin or do I really need primer? I don't want so many coats that it takes away trim detail.
Kris Morgan Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 You should really use primer. Not only will it help detect any minor clean up that may need to be done, it will also bite better. Dupli-Color primer sealer ot, Tamiya fine surface primer both lay down real smooth and, thin. On a side note, you ,may want to stick with cooler water rather than warm water when cleaning resin in the future.
Chuck Most Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 I always use primer on resin parts, after cleaning them thoroughly. Duplicolor automotive primer is what I use personally, it has always given me great results.
Bartster Posted February 9, 2012 Author Posted February 9, 2012 Thanks Kris & Chuck. Chuck, I really value your opinion, & Kris, I'll be painting some of your parts as well, so advice taken! Bart
