Dr. Cranky Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 Glenn, in your part of the world they make some of the best Hogs Head Cheese. Some crackers and hot sauce and you've got some good snacks!
LoneWolf15 Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 You two are not allowed to hang out together ! Bad things are gonna happen , I just know it !
Dr. Cranky Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 LOL! The worse thing that can happen, Donn, is that we open a deli style sandwich shop to provide modeler with lots of vitamins and fuel!
LoneWolf15 Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 LOL! The worse thing that can happen, Donn, is that we open a deli style sandwich shop to provide modeler with lots of vitamins and fuel! Dr. Cranky Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 HA! We'll try our best to stay out of trouble. Hey, I am getting back to those unfinished glossy builds that I painted over the Holidays. Hopefully, I'll be able to get some pictures up when I make enough progress. I've been in a building funk lately, but it's happened before, hopefully you'll be sending more inspiration my way soon.

Dr. Cranky Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 Bring it on, Donn, watching you go will get me fired up again.
Kustom Rodder Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 Hey Donn i hope you got the paint right on the 48 ford and by all means send murphy down the road because the arteest doesnt need any dust.
LoneWolf15 Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 Hey Donn i hope you got the paint right on the 48 ford and by all means send murphy down the road because the arteest doesnt need any dust. It's been one of those haunted body things , like I said , 4 times in the fluid ! I'll get it , just a matter of time . Usually , when this occurs , the end result is right on the money . I'm looking forward to it. , I really like the kit and I think it will build up into a great street machine or pro street car .
Dr. Cranky Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 I still have to finish mine . . . so many models, so few life times to get them all done!
heatride Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 It's been one of those haunted body things , like I said , 4 times in the fluid ! I'll get it , just a matter of time . Usually , when this occurs , the end result is right on the money . Hate to hear that Donn, don't recall us talking about that .
Darren B Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 After all that i have heard of the vids had to get me a copy of each and so far very very impressed, cant wait to try out all of the techniques.
Dr. Cranky Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 Another convert at the Church of Donn Yost! You are in for many great treats and new styrene journeys.
Tom Kren Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 Gray ? What's that ? You meant silver or white , correct ? Don't care what color it comes in , as long as it continues to grow ! Too many bald jokes would be comin' my way , believe me , I dished enough out ! Kathie says it makes me look distinguished ! I say that's like trying to make a silk purse out of a pigs ear ! Looks distinguished HAHAHAHA Thats not what she told me !
Tom Kren Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 Hey ol man getting stuff set up to try it your way seen the vid and love it will be picking one up in columbus!uestion what do you store your paint in after mixing ? I have plastic flip top bottoles will that work or should i get glass
LoneWolf15 Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 Tom, I use the glass bottles for mixing . For storage , I use either the glass jars or the paint jars themselves and mark an M on the top to indicate mixed paint . As for Kathie , I don't believe that ! She does not speak to strange men ... And you ? You are really a strange man ! Lmao !
Dr. Cranky Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 Donn, it's a 3-Day weekend and I'm in the mood to disappear into the paint booth and paint a Shelby Cobra. I've been wanting to do one of these for a long time. Straight out of the box but with a nice paint job on it. You are always the inspiration looming large at my bench, buddy.
LoneWolf15 Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 Great kit ! Fun to paint too ! Clean up isn't too bad , thin mold lines here and there , nothing major . If it's molded in white , how about the color I gave you the recipe for ? If not that , British Racing Green Metallic ? Sky's the limit , colorwise here , Virgil ! What a great subject for a wild color !
Dr. Cranky Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 You must have read my mind! Although I am really leaning toward the one you gave me. We'll see. I'm cleaning up the parts right now.
Dr. Cranky Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 All right, Donn, I started with you Calico color formula, but ended up tinkering with those EFFEX Powders and you know how it goes . . . I mixed transference gold with gold sparkle and came up with this. Needless to say, I like the results, although it is quite a difference from your Calico . . . so I'm calling mine CALEXICO, which is the name of this build CALEXICO COBRA.
scalenut Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 oohhh .. shiney !!! I just got my bottles ,paints, clears and everything together , now just need a break in the weather to spray some enamel. hope it comes out that good !
LoneWolf15 Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 Very nice ! A golden orange with a subtle flip flop . Bet this one walks under the lighting ! Nice smooth sheen to boot ! I'd say you hit this one out of the park , Virg . Fun , ain't it ? Lmao ! Beautiful work , Buddy !
Dr. Cranky Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 Thanks for the kind words, folks. Andy, you gonna have lots of fun. Donn, I'm telling you it's very easy to lose our minds with these Pearl EX powders. All I did was premix half a tip of coffee stirrer of transference gold with half a tip of sparkle gold, mixed it into the clear and shot it . . . you actually see it crawling over the paint, changing in bursts under the light. I'm telling you, I'm losing my mind!
crazyjim Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 Just goes to show you, doc SHINY :) RULES! Nice looking paint.
