Rick Schmidt Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 Ok so I'm messing with a Monogram 79 Cobra Mustang with a Turbo 4 I'm looking at the instructions and something catches my eye. The Dizzy is attached to the back of the valve cover ........ Why did Monogram think it went there ?? I can't be the only one who has noticed this odd thing. Any of yall built this kit and realized the same thing I did ??
Rob McKee Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 You know I built that kit many moons ago and I totally forgot about that. I cut it off and used a aftermarket distributor. If I recall it was sitting back by the firewall as well!
Guest Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 (edited) Is it possible that the real car had a cam driven distributor? I thought it was crazy when Monogram put the power steering on the back of the generator on the '55 Chevy, but as it turns out, that's how it was on the real car. I have the Monogram and the MPC Mustang Cobras. I'm gonna have to check both of them out. edit: now that I have actually looked at the Monogram kit,I think it's just a goof in the instructions. There's no way a distributor would work in that location! The block does have a spot for the distributor to be glued to that's in the right area fortunately. Unfortunately, this kit won't work for what I was wanting to build with it. I guess I'll have to go with the MPC kit for my build. Edited February 13, 2012 by plowboy
