I don't want to widen as much as to fit a Corvette front end, Bart. I'm thinking something like the size of a deuce roadster, maybe a longer frame, and small front end. Don has a nice idea with an Outlaw front. I still have to check my parts bin, Don. I hate to disturb an perfect kit just for 1 part. Yup - FAST, March 3 at the Hobby Lobby in Ocala. Two whole boxes of the '40 Ford pickup have been sitting at Rob's Hobby World for about 6 weeks. Ha, Jim you know I never build anything box stock and I won't be using that nose anyway.......you're welcome to it and headlights, and other parts circled below. I'm keeping the radiator though.
crazyjim Posted February 17, 2012 Author Posted February 17, 2012 Thanks, Russ. I use Tamiya tape. For this particular masking I laid about a 6" strip on a clean piece of glass and slit some pieces. Somewhere was a tutorial about cutting the tip of an Xacto knife so it would accept 2 blades. By shimming a piece of plastic between the blades, you can then vary the width. It gives a perfect cut time after time at whatever width it's set to. I use a Paasche H series single action airbrush - just like Donn Yost suggests in his DVD. Getting my idea in your mind, Bart? It'll be wild if I can pull it off. That's quite an offer, Don. If you could bring the parts to the FASTmeeting, I'd appreciate it. Maybe I can offer you some of my resin for it. I did go through my parts and found the nose pieces from and old, old Indy car and 2 from some old, old Lotus open wheel race cars. Maybe by the March FAST meeting I'll have some idea where I'm going with the Trantula.
crazyjim Posted February 17, 2012 Author Posted February 17, 2012 Thank you. I don't think the word is out to FAST yet, but we're going to have a "create your own decals" tutorial at the meeting. Cool or what?
GrandpaMcGurk Posted February 18, 2012 Posted February 18, 2012 Works for me...later. We'd better get back on track "under glass" before Harry starts slapping us around.
