davysmodels Posted June 7, 2007 Posted June 7, 2007 1957 Ford Fairlane 500 (amt/ertl) to Ranchero conversion. Tamiya Black paint - GREAT PAINT from a spray can.
SteveKnox Posted June 7, 2007 Posted June 7, 2007 Wow, that's coming along nicely! Where did you get the inner bed?
oldcars Posted June 7, 2007 Posted June 7, 2007 I was wondering the same as I was looking at your picture.
davysmodels Posted June 7, 2007 Author Posted June 7, 2007 THANK YOU for the comments. Appreciated. The bed is made from Evergreen ribbed plastic sheet (several attempts and cuts to get it correct after tracing the inside dimensions). The wheel wells covers inside the bed made from plastic sheet (again a few tries to get the size correct). The tailgate is one piece-custom modified with sheet plastic and lots of putty. The bed was actually easy. The correct roofline and side posts of the roof were hard. Had to use several pictures for reference. davys
Matt T. Posted June 7, 2007 Posted June 7, 2007 Beautiful job! Great paint slingin', and your fab work on that bed is amazing. Take a bow! (I'll be using Tamiya gloss black on my current project. I hope it comes out that good.)
oldcars Posted June 7, 2007 Posted June 7, 2007 Thank you for the information(and new pictures). After reading all the work you have done so far I am tired now. I do plan on following your progress. It is going one really cool build. 8)
davysmodels Posted June 8, 2007 Author Posted June 8, 2007 Thank you for the replies regarding the conversion of the 57 Ford. Appreciated. Hope to finish the build this week. The Tamiya paint is GREAT. Very forgiving. Levels out very smooth. I did some light polishing with a 8000 and 12000 sanding pad. Very carefully. Then "The Treatment model wax". thanks.
