sjordan2 Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 Many of you are probably aware of the awesome models built by Marshall Buck and Creative Miniatures Associates. I just discovered that they put up a video with a short tour of his facility and an interview with him. Lots of eye candy. http://www.cmamodels.com/
Old Sprinter Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 Wow, that's was cool. Wouldn't that be great, to make a living building model cars?
Ramfins59 Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 I had the pleasure of working for Marshall Buck for a few months back in 2001, when I still lived on Long Island, NY. He is a fantastic craftsman and good person. I was still recuperating from the TIA's (small strokes) that I had in June 2000 and I was doing office work for his business rather than building models, as my eyesight and eye-hand coordination was still not up to par as yet. I still run into him at the NNL East sometimes. As he states in the video, model-making is a tough business and from what I have seen while working for him, it is a tough business to make $$$ in. While to all of us it IS a hobby, when your livlihood depends on it, it becomes a job, and to me, that would seem to take a lot of the FUN out of building a model.
