bdcmhanson Posted February 26, 2012 Posted February 26, 2012 this is my latest truck ive been working on. its is a custom 99 revell chevy extra long truck. the rims im thinking of useing are team losi r/c rims and tires. there is alot of suspension work to still be done. i am just stuck on what to do and where to start on the front straight axle conversion. does anyone have any ideas on what i can use to start it? can i rework another 99 checy axle or anything like that?
tooltas Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 i would thats what i did with the one i did i used a old dana60 rear that was broke and cut the axle tubs off and dirled new holes for new ones too set.
steve7119 Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 Do the same thing the 1:1 guys do. Pick your axle and make it to fit. Calnaga Castings has a dana 44 casting with the outer axle ends. Cast center section uses brass tube with the cast ends. I got a set and they are really good. You can use any axle that is correct for the time period. I am working on a 55 stepside conversion and the dana 44 has been around since then.
