AZ Boy Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 This should've been the Mickey Thompson Mustang F/C, but for some reason the Slixx decals (which were supposedly designed to fit the Johan body) were much too long for the body. So instead, here's the Boss Hoss Mustang funny. Aaron
Monty Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 I wish I would've know how well designed these kits were when I was a kid. This is a great example of good paint work, clean building techniques and accurate detailing. Very nicely done! Are those slicks original parts of that kit?
1zebra3 Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 Totally awesome build I really like the blue (what did you use for paint) and great engine detail. Sorry the decals did not work for you because MT was one of the true greats.

Monty, those were some soft resin cast slicks that I bought from my LHS. They are almost identical to the size and width of the one-piece slicks that are issued with the Mongoose Navy car, or the JJ Vega reissue. A little wider than the Johan two- piece slicks, so I narrowed the axle a bit to compensate. Thanks for all the comments, guys!

Matt, the color is Testors Star Spangled Blue lacquer right from the rattle can over a gold base followed by their wet look clear. Edited February 28, 2012 by AZ Boy
HotRodaSaurus Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 Beautiful model. Captures those days of the golden era of Funny car racing when the cars looked like what was running on the street
Pete L. Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 Really nice work...looks like a real funny car !!!
6bblbird Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 You get an A+ on this one! Super clean and well done! Yes, I do remember the Slixx, Mickey Thompson decals giving me some problems on mine. I did manage to make them work with some fiddeling. WF
