Psychographic Posted March 1, 2012 Posted March 1, 2012 (edited) I got my hands on another Silhouette and decided to put an idea I had while building the last one to use. First step was to cut the nose off of the bottom, then cut a section from the center. Side panels are cut so the center piece can go back in, but it will be raised, creating a tunnel. The same center section is now cut from the front top half of the body. The center section of the bottom is re installed in it's new position, the extension piece on the front is the Silhouette hood. The side panels are trimmed closer to their final shape. The front piece from the top body half is now extended back to the interior with some sheet styrene. Edited March 1, 2012 by Psychographic
Psychographic Posted March 1, 2012 Author Posted March 1, 2012 (edited) I filled all the wheel openings, made new lower nose pieces, filled the side indents, and attached the top center section. At this point I was down to a two piece body. The two body halves are now joined. Edited March 1, 2012 by Psychographic
Dr. Cranky Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 David, the body work is solid. That thing is going to look great with paint. Keep it going, I'd like to see more.
Ryan S. Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 Are you building a boat, or a UFO/ Flying car? Regardless, you're off to a good start!
Psychographic Posted March 2, 2012 Author Posted March 2, 2012 Time for the drivetrain. The outboard is too long, so out came 1/4" and it fits just right now. The back of the Silhouette cut and reworked for the outboard. And the outboard on the hull.
Fabrux Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 Are you going to build the trailer into a hauler for this as well? Not sure how good an enclosed trailer would be for a boat, but I look forward to seeing what you do!
geemoney Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 love it! i want to take the trailer, use some JADA wheels and make a cool cab-4ward hauler!

kingtoy Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 This is a great build. I think this also would have made a killer retro flying car.
bobthehobbyguy Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 I agree it would also make a cool flying car. However the boat idea is really cool. bobthehobbyguy
