Art Laski Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 (edited) I've seen a couple of these lately, so I'm a little late to the party. My wife bought this kit for me and it's probably not something I would have chosen to do, but I figured I would use it to try out Tamiya spray lacquers for the first time. So that's what I used on this. It's mostly box-stock, with some additional detailing like plug wires, fuel injection lines, seat belts, etc. Thanks for looking! Edited March 2, 2012 by Art Laski
a/gass Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 looks realy good using out of box parts - very good.im on my sixth try with this kit and second try for the royal bird lol maby next year.
Burnout Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 I would say that your painting experiment was a great success! Cool looking ride.
The70judgeman Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 (edited) Wow...that turned out sweet for a trial run. Great detailing. What color is that if you don't mind me asking? I've got that kit and kind of started to part it out, but I may try something like that to save the kit from becoming a complete basket case. Love the Pontiac's. Edited March 2, 2012 by The70judgeman
rv1963 Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 Wow that looks awsome, the paint and decals are very well done as are all those engine details.
Monty Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 Check out Art - layin' down a sweet paint job like that on his first try with Tamiya lacquers. I'm guessing he used Mica Red to top off a very clean build.
John Teresi Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 Art........this build is AWESOME.........these pictures are great but,I saw this in person at the" Grand Nationals Roadster Show" model car contest in January of this year....... it took 1st place in it`s category.......it look great but, even more impressive in person.......congrat`s Art.........also,I recognize the drivers name on the car........nice touch
Art Laski Posted March 3, 2012 Author Posted March 3, 2012 Thanks, everyone for the nice comments. I have to thank John Teresi for making these pictures possible. He is a great friend. John, do you think I could get the driver to sign it? Andy- The color is TS-18 Metallic Red over Tamiya white primer. Tamiya TS-13 clear was used over the red. I followed Pete Johnson's guidelines from the great article he has on the Tamiya web site. See it at this link: http://www.tamiyausa.com/articles/feature.php?article-id=35 Here are a few more outside shots I took today. Thanks for looking!
John Teresi Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 Art......WOW!!!!! ......man,those outside pictures are killer!!!!!........the build really pops!!!!!!!........yes, I`m sure I could get the driver to sign it......I told him are cool you are and what an AWESOME model car builder you are.
groo12 Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 Simply awesome. My kit arrived earlier this week and I washed it today. Need to finish some others first, but I am little stuck on each one. Having fun though...
Art Laski Posted March 4, 2012 Author Posted March 4, 2012 Thanks, John. I need to figure out how to get Fotki to store larger versions of my pics, though. It's shrinking them down quite a bit when I upload them for some reason. These outside shots look much better larger. Ray, thanks for the comment. Would love to see your Firebird! Are you going to post a WIP? I would have, but I didn't have a working camera during this build. -Art
