RoadRunner1083 Posted March 12, 2012 Posted March 12, 2012 I'm wondering how everyone does this. Do you paint the details, like the turn signal markers, tail lights (that don't come with clear pieces), fog lights, etc. over the clear cloat, or do you paint them before the clearcoat. I was thinking before the clearcoat, but then I was thinking parts like the flat black grill areas needed to be painted after, because they were flat black, so I am unsure?. Thanks!
Mike Kucaba Posted March 12, 2012 Posted March 12, 2012 I don't know anyone that clear coats over a blackwashed grille. Most treat the grille as a separate item, and detail it separately. Chrome headlights can be enhanced by dropping a coat of Future clear acrylic on it for depth or clear epoxy.Side marker lights are done with clear yellow/orange,and clear red,or a decal in the kit.
RoadRunner1083 Posted March 12, 2012 Author Posted March 12, 2012 The reason I ask, is for a kit like this. Where the fog lights and the Grill area are all molded together. I wasn't sure.
Mike Kucaba Posted March 12, 2012 Posted March 12, 2012 I think I'd pick out the details after the clear coat on that one.
