ChevyCoupe41 Posted March 12, 2012 Posted March 12, 2012 (edited) I started this project a couple of days ago, by painting the engine and some of its parts. The rear tires are from my parts box and front tires came with this kit. Those CenterLine wheels are casted by Marko Piironen. I removed those original exhaust pipes wich was casted to rear axle. After that put some bondo on that rear axle and sanded. Its need still little bit of bondo. I am also work some kind of plastic pieces of between rear axle and chassis which will lift the rear end so much higher That rear wheels do not rub against the rear fenders. Here's few photos. The engine is Pontiac 400 wich came with this kit. I need to paint that carburator and then i can put some details to engine like fuel line and plug wires. The rear axle after modifications. If you click on the picture you can see a larger version. All kind of comments and tips are welcome. Edited March 12, 2012 by ChevyCoupe41
W-409 Posted March 12, 2012 Posted March 12, 2012 (edited) Great build, and excellent subject! Did you get those rear tires fit, or is it still in "To Do-list"? Engine looks great so far, and I like the stance. And is it OK if you add X2 or something like that to the topic title, and I post my progress here also, since I'm building other D/S '69 GTO? Like our Community Build, you know. Edited March 12, 2012 by W-409
ChevyCoupe41 Posted March 12, 2012 Author Posted March 12, 2012 Thanks!! Now they fit better as you can see on that last picture. It will be just a bit higher because on that picture those rear tires rub just a little bit on those rear fenders. Maybe tomorrow i post some pics with higher rear end. It is ok. I put that X2 to the topic title when you start your own GTO.
ChevyCoupe41 Posted March 14, 2012 Author Posted March 14, 2012 Yesterday I continued the engine assembly by putting the carburetor, plug wires, and also I did the fuel line. Next, I need to do the alternator bracket and return engine assembly.
ChevyCoupe41 Posted April 29, 2012 Author Posted April 29, 2012 Finally update to this one. I continued the rear axle and i get whole new idea for that how i can get it higher. I found Revell's '62 Impala's original springs from my parts box and they fit pretty well after that i removed those original spring brackets of chassis. Now the rear end is as high as those rear wheels don't rub to rear fenders arches. Stance looks also very good to me. Rear axle stll needs some work but not much. Next i had to find "sheet metal" exhaust manifolds to the engine. Now i had to ask that is there are any Pontiac kit what includes those "sheet metal" exhaust manifolds?
