Chad Posted March 25, 2012 Posted March 25, 2012 Do the older amt kits have hood hinges? I've been working on a few kits and haven't seen any hinges...the l9000, Louisville short hauler , and the t501 peterbilt California hauler....do any of these have hood hinges so the hoods can open? Chad
txdieseldog Posted March 25, 2012 Posted March 25, 2012 Not the Louisville for sure. I have three different versions. It has two dimples in the frame that small post rest in.
Jim B Posted March 25, 2012 Posted March 25, 2012 The Ford LN8000/LNT8000 and the Peterbilt 359 "California Hauler" do not have hinged hoods. You'll have to scratch build a hinge. I hinged thr hood on my 1973 Ryder Ford LN8000 Short Hauler with aluminum tube & some steel rod. Works quite well, actually. It's hard to tell from this pic, but you can just see the two small tubes on the front of the frame where the pins from the hood would sit. I filed out a nice little groove for them & epoxyed them in. There is a corresponding tube epoxyed to the hood. Then a rod connects them all together.
cowboysevens Posted March 25, 2012 Posted March 25, 2012 The original cal hauler didn't have a hinged hood but the newer version "white with brown stripes" does
Truck parts Posted March 25, 2012 Posted March 25, 2012 On the ford. I cut one of the legs off a cotter pin ,and bent the loop close. Than I super glue it to the hood, and drilled a hole through each frame rail, and installed a small rod to hold the hood on.
