DANB Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 Bought this kit off ebay for a bargain, my expectations were higher being a Revell kit but its not bad. There aren't many pieces so i can see it being done in a short amount of time. I thought for ages what color to do it, everybody just seems to go black and i thought what else is an old school sort of typical Chev color, yellow? But then as it sat there in primer i thought why not try make it look like its ALMOST ready for color, the few test trails look good so ill see what i can come up with. I have never tried a paint job like this so bare with me lol.
Modellpularn Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 (edited) This is an old Monogram mold from the beginning, the first issue came out in 1963. So it's not too bad considering the age. Monogram revamped it in the early 70's into the BADMAN, and after that it's been reissued a number of times with basically the same parts, except the wheels and tires. Here's a pic of the original issue, together with the '58 T-Bird, which was released about the same time. Edited April 4, 2012 by Modellpularn
DANB Posted April 4, 2012 Author Posted April 4, 2012 That would explain allot, i might actually have preferred the badman kit just for the decals. Did some digging on this forum and found this one completed by Oldscool, really wicked. Gives me inspiration.
Dr. Cranky Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 I love it in primer. Gives it a great look. Thanks for sharing.
Lownslow Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 its a ok kit. with effort you get a nice build out of it. only thing i didnt use were the seats or engine
geordie Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 I'm about half way through this build. I like your primer approach, I was leaning towards black.......
DANB Posted April 5, 2012 Author Posted April 5, 2012 Yeh whats with the front seats in this kit lol Black always looks good, i just prefer to try differant colors sometimes. Those colors go real well lownslow, sick job on that one.
SuperStockAndy Posted April 5, 2012 Posted April 5, 2012 Yeh whats with the front seats in this kit lol I ended up cutting the prongs off the bottom of mine and moved them to a more "sitting, not laying" position..
DANB Posted April 5, 2012 Author Posted April 5, 2012 (edited) lol i havent decided what to do yet lol, i found a bench seat in my parts box but its a rear seat and looks out of proportion, so idk lol. Taking shape, Still have to sand front 1/4 panels and pass door. Flipped through a couple of dads Car Culture Deluxe magazines to get some ideas so that's where the metallic green roof came from. Looks cool. Edited April 5, 2012 by DANB

rmvw guy Posted April 6, 2012 Posted April 6, 2012 Love the Old School primered one above. The two tone looks good also. This old kit still has some good potential.
Badluck 13 Posted April 6, 2012 Posted April 6, 2012 This is looking sweet so far,I like the work in progress look on your work in progress
