It all depends how much you want these kinds of after market parts to add to your model. I know some folks who would spend this kind of dough, but I also agree that you can make a cheaper set look just as good if not better.

PRIORITIES

“That’s not fair! Not all of us can afford to spend that kind of money just for a hobby item!” …said the man at the register line holding a case of beer, and a carton of Marlboros.

That is not a bad price at all. I say that as someone who has invested countless hours making them for myself. But I would not buy them, I'd rather spend time than money in this case...

the USD asking price for those wheels over on HLJ is $133. if you can find them cheaper somewhere else with shipping included, go for it.

also compare the cost of those wheels with tires to anything else you can get and i think you will find that they are very fairly priced. the TMM wheels are 2-piece metal with separate rivets, lug nuts and valve stems, how many other companies offer that same kind of detail in a 1/24 scale set of wheels?

Just to clear things up, not just to you Dave, but to everyone. I was not calling the seller insane. I was just saying that anyone who buys these for a MODEL is either a VERY dedicated builder, or a VERY insane builder. I have no doubt that these are worth what he is asking due to the fact that they are machined with all the seperate pieces. They are very nice, I just can't justify spending that kinda money on them. Wish I was rich, cuz I definatly would.

LOL, If that makes the builder insane, I should have been committed a LOOOOOOONG time ago!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I would normally buy those in a heartbeat. I just recently lost my job though so I need to be sane for a little while until I find something else. To me, things like that are little works of art and can turn a good model into a great model!!! For time and materials involved in making those wheels, the price he is asking is more than fair. Back when there were no machinists offering real machined wheels, a friend contracted a company to manufacture 1/24 scale machined aluminum Alcoa ten hole semi truck wheels. Those wheels sold for ten dollars each. I have one hundred (ten sets) of those wheels. They are highly prized to those who know about them! I try to buy every set when they pop up on Ebay, which is rarely! Jim Littiken has been kind enough to produce several different semi truck wheels of my design and they too sell for 10.00 to 14.00 dollars for each wheel. I love stuff like this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
