old-hermit Posted June 25, 2007 Posted June 25, 2007 First off let me say that this is my model clubs same kit project that I MUST do. I don't usually build small scale cars so I wanted to do something off the wall. I will combine a Lindberg 1953 Ford Convertible body with a 2006 Revell Ford Mustang chassis and interior. I started by cutting 1/4 inch in length from the 1953 body to match the wheel base of the Mustang. Next I installed a dash to firewall extension to eliminate the gap. I'll post more as it progresses. The kits Body cut Extension Extension in place
mademan Posted June 25, 2007 Posted June 25, 2007 im gonna be watching this thread! looks like you are off to a great start!
Smart-Resins Posted June 25, 2007 Posted June 25, 2007 Now that is rather interesting! So will it be a low rider, tuner or dub style build?? I stillwonder if you ever crossed Model building with biology when you were in school??HEHEHE.
old-hermit Posted June 25, 2007 Author Posted June 25, 2007 I want it to look stock except for the wheels. But a closer look will reveal the 'stang interior and undercarriage. I also had to modify the 'stang interior and shorten the convertible top to match the body. I haven't decided whether to use the top or boot. Here are a few more progress pics. Modified interior Int mod Int with boot Int with shortened roof
old-hermit Posted June 26, 2007 Author Posted June 26, 2007 Removed the splash pans and modified the Mustang frame to fit the 1953 body. Also trimmed the inner fender wells for clearance. Mock up.
old-hermit Posted June 27, 2007 Author Posted June 27, 2007 Painted, sanded, ready for clear. To muggy, it will have to wait. Mock up with bumper & grill set in place just for the pic.
Smart-Resins Posted June 27, 2007 Posted June 27, 2007 You always seem to come up with good ones and wip them babies out. Real nice Al!!
old-hermit Posted July 1, 2007 Author Posted July 1, 2007 Finished the engine bay. Had to move the radiator back a little for clearance but still managed to fit the fan shroud in place.
