TooOld Posted May 11, 2012 Author Posted May 11, 2012 (edited) Just a quick update . Last night I spent a couple of hours with some BMF . I have tried it a couple of times on old bodies without much luck . Well , I think it turned out pretty good . . . not perfect , but for my first real try I'm happy with it . I've also finished the exhaust , complete with clamps ! They were kind of fun to make . Just need to finish the front suspension and the chassis will be done . Now some clear on the body , and final assembly . Hopefully this time next week it will be completed . I feel like I'm forgetting something . Next stop , " Under Glass " ! BOB . bryan_m Posted May 11, 2012 Posted May 11, 2012 lookin good Bob! BMF is tricky on very thin trim, cut the bmf bigger that it has to be and burnish it down with a q-tip, and use a #11 blade without the handle to trim it to size. i did all the chrome trim on this caddy interior with bmf, it took me forever, but i think it came out ok. keep it goin! lookin good! cheers bryan
TooOld Posted May 11, 2012 Author Posted May 11, 2012 Thanks for the tip Bryan . I'll give it a try . It really wasn't as hard as I thought it would be . With a little more practice I think I'll get the hang of it . BOB .
bryan_m Posted May 11, 2012 Posted May 11, 2012 youre welcome Bob, yea its not too tough, but it takes forever! cheers! bryan m
TooOld Posted May 12, 2012 Author Posted May 12, 2012 Hi Everyone ! I just wanted to say Thank You for your kind words and encouragement . This was the first time I've tried posting a WIP and I had fun doing it . I also learned alot from looking at my own pictures . It's encouraging to receive comments from a group of such talented people . I'm trying to improve with every model I build , and I hope you enjoy seeing the results . Thank you again and talk to you next time . BOB .
Bartster Posted May 12, 2012 Posted May 12, 2012 You're welcome! lt was a pleasure watching such out of the box creativity. Especially on a good ol' Mopar.
TooOld Posted May 17, 2012 Author Posted May 17, 2012 (edited) Well , I'm back with another update . I keep finding little things that need to be done . The Clear is dry and most of the trim is finished . The windshield and dashboard are installed . Right now I'm adding some wiring to the engine compartment . The overflow tank was scratch built using rectangular styrene tubing . The battery came from the parts bin . The overflow hose is installed between the radiator and the tank . The voltage regulator and ignition resistor are scratch built . I see the dashboard is crooked , I can fix that . Passenger side view . The battery cables are already installed on the engine so they won't be hooked to the battery untill the body and chassis go together . I still have to make all the windows for the body . I'll probably find more to do before the body and chassis go together . Thanks again ! BOB . Edited March 4, 2020 by TooOld
TooOld Posted May 23, 2012 Author Posted May 23, 2012 (edited) I finished this morning and wanted to get a couple pictures posted . It took less than two months which is a record for me , I build slow ! Anyway , it's not perfect and I'd like to change a couple of things , but it's good for now . If you see anything that I could do , please tell me . I plan on reworking it in the future . As soon as I get some decent pictures I'll post it on " Under Glass " . Thanks. BOB .
