Engine Hop-Ups.

Recommended Posts

It seems outlandish, but, I wanna take AMT's LWB day cab Peterbilt 359 and turn it into a bobber style hotrod. Using the radiator and cab and frame as a base. Anyways, is there anybody who has ever seen or heard of a "souped-up" diesel engine found in these beast? I'm thinking turbos if the 359 had them

Tyrone Malones drag trucks I believe had 4 turbos and 2 sroots type blowers on a 12v71 Detroit. So yeah they have been souped up. Of course now days it is more plug and play with the tuning but you can always add. Up in the art section got some inspiration for you in the form of a tandem axle 1953 Pete hotrod.

Check this out, it's a 12v71 powered Pete with a chopped top and bobbed in the rear with super single sized slicks.

By the way, doesn't that version of the Pete kit have a Cummins motor in it? Check out the second video for the Welderup 28 Dodge rat rod with a 5.9 Cummins.

If you want some good insights about "souped up" diesel trucks; you should check out some info on the pro-pulling truck series.....some of those trucks are running detroit 12's with 2 blowers; and 4 turbos....making about 3800 horsepower to yank the sled...lots of good info I think to help guide your build...........Matt
