hotrod59f100 Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 (edited) Was the wheels that came with the dodge liL red express kit dodges own? Or was it a a aftermarket wheel.? I have a build I wanted to use the wheels on but don't want it to be stupid if it was a mopar only wheel. Thanks. Edited April 26, 2012 by hotrod59f100

hotrod59f100 Posted April 26, 2012 Author Posted April 26, 2012 Cool .i have a Chevy I wanted to use them on but didn't want to be shot down for it. Thanks.
Bartster Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 Those were from the factory. They were chromed steel 5-slots.
mopar01lee Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 sry shoulda been lil more clear .. yes they came from the factory .. an the aftermarket company made them...lol
Bartster Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 sry shoulda been lil more clear .. yes they came from the factory .. an the aftermarket company made them...lol ....True. They were a very common rim in the late '60s & '70s. there would be nothing wrong with putting them on a Chevy unless someone wants to nit-pick about the bolt pattern size.
hotrod59f100 Posted April 26, 2012 Author Posted April 26, 2012 Could anyone order them Or was it solely made for dodge ?
mopar01lee Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 lol... around here that shouldnt take to long to happen...... later days ..davin
Casey Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 Could anyone order them Or was it solely made for dodge ? The Lil Red wheels were 15x7 and 15x8 and were offered by Dodge only, though there were similar 15x7 wheels used on both Dodge and Plymouth D series pickups/SUVs and B-series vans. They will pass for a generic 5-slot wheel if used on a non-Mopar.
hotrod59f100 Posted April 26, 2012 Author Posted April 26, 2012 Thanks Casey . Ill just use them . They do look like generic slots.
VW Dave Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 Actually, the wheels on the LRE's were made by Superior(an aftermarket wheel manufacturer); their wheels were also available through Montgomery Ward's automotive department. The only difference between the retail and Mopar-only wheels were the center caps; the factory LRE caps were without logos, while Superior's retail caps had their trademark 'S' on them. When we were in need of new caps for my mother's '79 Lil Red back in the 1990's, we were schooled by a veteran Moparts guy. I can remember seeing a display rack of Superior wheels at 'Monkey Wards' as a kid.
