i was in such a building rut, for the longest time, and now that i have actually made it back to the bench after nearly 2 years, i cant get the ideas to stop now!! not that i am complaining...... i started this one a long time ago, i cut the doors open, and believe it or not, the fuel door. i was just lookin through some old stuff and found it....... maybe a 572 in it, with corvette ralley wheels n redline tires........sounds like a plan. heres a couple shots..

59elky001.jpg

and heres the fuel door i cut open, and made the inner panel and filler neck......

59elky003.jpg

i keep cutting doors open, and i dont know why, i am terrible at making hinges!! i can scratchbuild the door jambs and stuff, but thos hinges!! LOL

ok back to the project at hand (again)

cheers

I like the Idea of the 59' Ranchero,How do you make door jambs and the covers for the room between the body and the interior tub?

Posted

It all looks great, buddy. It looks like you are getting an energy boost from all these wonderful builds you want to create. That's what it is all about. Keep 'em going.

AUSTIN: door jambs and inner rocker panels are tough to make sometimes, the best thing to do is find alot of reference pics, and go from there..

VIRGIL: thanks buddy, yea thats what its about, and the ideas wont stop flowin now!

STEVE: thanks! yea i had to leave a window down! it just adds a little interest to it. a little touch like that goes a long way.

im hopin to make it to the bench in a bit. stay tuned!

cheers

before i went to the booth to paint the seats, i figured i would assemble the basic engine and double check the engine fit........i only had to modify it a bit. i had to grind down the top of the trans, the tranny mount and the tranny crossmember.....

999002.jpg

i removed about 1/32 from the crossmember, so it would sit down in there a bit lower, and shaved off the tranny mount on the bottom of the housing.

999001.jpg

now it fits in there nice, and you wont be able to see the modifications i made.....time to shoot some paint !

999003.jpg

it looks alot smaller than the ardun flathead i was gonna use, but it would have been too tough to make it fit, i would have had to modify the firewall, and its too late to do that now that i have the body painted. i should have planned it better............next time! LOL

thanks for lookin,

cheers

i got the seats shot in black, now i have to mask them and shoot the gray. i also painted the block, intake and water pump chevy blue.

888001.jpg

i totally goofed on the engine! i just noticed it....i missed the back of the heads, they dont have enuff paint on them! so i will be shooting that again here in a few mins...

888002.jpg

time to shoot some more blue, stay tuned

Man this thing is sweet. I like that this thing looks stock but with just a hint of custom. Nice stance and I love the 8 ball. Keep it coming!
