larrygre Posted May 31, 2012 Posted May 31, 2012 Hey everyone, The pre-molded fuel and oil lines in the Revell Mongoose RE Dragster kit are molded in polyethylene - a plastic that most paint tends not to stick well to. Has anyone overcome this problem? Thanks in advance!
Chuck Most Posted May 31, 2012 Posted May 31, 2012 Krylon's Fusion line works on polyethylene, the trick might be finding the right color, as the choices are a bit limited in that line. You might try spraying a lacquer-based primer first, then go over that with the desired color. I can't personally vouch for how that will work on polyethylene, but I use it on vinyl quite a bit- I'd try it out on the sprue first of course.

Failing that, I'd remake them out of wire, solder or buy the aftermarket lines-using the originals as templates for length and thickness.
Edsel-Dan Posted June 1, 2012 Posted June 1, 2012 I would try the same type paint you use on tire sidewalls. Acrylic there is/was a paint formulated for Flexible parts of Model Railroading but am not sure if it is still made. Was it from Badger?? I want to say it was called Flex-color or Flex-coat??
