bigphoto Posted June 13, 2012 Posted June 13, 2012 (edited) Hey gang, I recently sent an email to Testors regarding their( Gunze) old Pantera kits. Here is the email I sent and the one I got back. While not a no, but at least there is a thought planted and they responded! Dear Mr. Ridout, I don't have an answer as to what the chances are but I am going to forward this suggestion over to our Marketing Department for consideration. Thank you for taking the time to send us your suggestions. Sincerely, Beth The Testor Corporation Consumer Affairs Department 1-800-837-8677 (1-800-testors) M-F 8:00 A.M - 4:00 PM CST >>> <racepics007@yahoo.com> 6/7/2012 2:16 PM >>> Hello, Given the popularity of the recent Fujimi release of their Pantera kit(s) what are the chances of seeing reissues of the Gunze kits sold under your label making a comeback? Or better still maybe an agreement between you (Testors) and Tokoyo Mauri to bring back their kits as they were actually a very accurate early Pantera. Just some random thoughts and dreaming. Sincerely, Tim Ridout Edited June 13, 2012 by bigphoto
Deathgoblin Posted June 13, 2012 Posted June 13, 2012 Would be nice. I loved the Testors issues of the Fujimi kits. The Porche 356a is a brilliant kit. I need to get another one so I can do it justice.
fumi Posted June 14, 2012 Posted June 14, 2012 The Gunze pantera is a typical 70's motorized kit, the chassis is strictly a flat plate with a battery box and the interior is bare. I doubt they would re-release it. Marui has flat out stated they won't get back into plastic models every time Japanese magazines question them about it. Their younger employees didn't even know they once made model kits when questioned at hobby shows. I think the best bet is to ask Aoshima about it, they have a Facebook page and they actively answer posts. Not sure if they'd want to take on the Pantera with Fujimi about to release a second one already, but it would fit nicely with their supercar line. And judging from their Coutach, the quality would probably surpass the Marui one.
Bartster Posted June 14, 2012 Posted June 14, 2012 l partied with Pantera back in the late 80s early 90s when they were younger too. Great people, great cars.
