Jim B Posted June 17, 2012 Posted June 17, 2012 Got a couple on the way can't way to pair one up with a peerless log trailer. I agree. That's what i want to do, too.
lapazleo Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 UPS brought mine today, Another homerun from Round 2. Better than ever.
catd11rpusher Posted June 21, 2012 Posted June 21, 2012 I just ordered one today, is there anything about the kit to watch out for? can't wait to get it.
lapazleo Posted June 21, 2012 Posted June 21, 2012 Typical Amt kit of the time no real surprises. Shares much with the Road boss kit much like the real truck. Biggest issue wheelbase a little short for sleeper. Details seem a little crisper than original. Decal sheet is very nice with red and white stripes. No flash and chrome decent.
Jim B Posted June 21, 2012 Posted June 21, 2012 Loe, thanks for the mini review. I'm definately going to pick one up for my logger.
lapazleo Posted June 21, 2012 Posted June 21, 2012 A decent kit with many possibilities. Road tractor ,logger ,belly dump ,oil field truck ,wrecker etc.
jekylljr Posted June 22, 2012 Posted June 22, 2012 do u guys remember the western star from the movie steel cowboy?
lapazleo Posted June 22, 2012 Posted June 22, 2012 Sure do, sweet ride. AMT,s kit would work to model it.
jacobus Posted June 23, 2012 Posted June 23, 2012 tnt post just bring the white ws from out the usa put him on the stash first the others but cant wait to start to built him put the old one on the bottom jacobus
cdnmodman Posted June 23, 2012 Posted June 23, 2012 Hey guys, Wasn't the single axle wrecker in the movie Highballing a Western Star as well ?? Remember it running on some country roads north of Toronto and ripping across the Toronto harbour front. Rick
mistermodel Posted June 23, 2012 Posted June 23, 2012 Rick it was.I saw it once when I was a kid http://www.imcdb.org/vehicle_320150-White-Western-Star-4800-1977.html
mackinac359 Posted June 23, 2012 Posted June 23, 2012 Plenty of possibilities with this kit. Tractor, sleeper tractor (frame needs lengthening about 1.5 inches) West coast logger (longer frame needed for wheelbase and aft of axles) Heck.. about anything KW and Peterbilt did, White-Western Star was built that way too. Tim
maxwell48098 Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 Here are a couple that I built over the years from the original kit. A metallic blue day cab with a shortened frame, a box stock whte one with sleeper, and a yellow heavy duty day cab. A.J.
maxwell48098 Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 I also built another one using an Illini Replica nose and photo etched grille and name plates. A.J.
Jim B Posted June 27, 2012 Posted June 27, 2012 Just picked up mine today from my LHS. It appears to be a decent kit. The Canadian decals are a nice touch. Logger research time!
