gtx6970 Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 (edited) Anyone done a conversion of the Plymouth hardtop using the sedan roof from the Lindberg 1964 Dodge ? If so, I'm interested in tips to do so. I've started one and found out the Dodge roof is about an 1/8" narrower than the Plymouth body BTW, I have the JF resin body and decided to not use it make my own Edited July 18, 2012 by gtx6970
gtx6970 Posted July 18, 2012 Author Posted July 18, 2012 (edited) I think that MCW also has that body in resin. I just sent them an email asking . Or do you happen to know if it's a Flintstone body or not ? UPDATE - I heard back from Dave at MCW, he makes all his own masters to cast from. I did some looking around there site and they have some killer builds with decals I didn't know existed. Edited July 23, 2012 by gtx6970
Bartster Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 Very interesting. l had contemplated doing the opposite, putting the Plymouth roof on the Dodge to make a Polara. The body lines at the base of the pillars were so different, that l didn't trust my tools or skills to pull this off yet. l'm gonna pull them out later tonight to check again. Bart.
tubbs Posted July 23, 2012 Posted July 23, 2012 (edited) i have asked this question many times. want to do this roof swap on the polar lights 65 dodge. does not look too complicated till you get into it. would be wonderful for a nice tutorial. Edited July 23, 2012 by tubbs
gtx6970 Posted July 23, 2012 Author Posted July 23, 2012 (edited) Here is my progress so far. Using the windshield top header from the Hardtop Plymouth and then the Roof, B and C pillars section from the sedan Dodge. Making the transition from the C-pillar down into the top edge of the quarter panel is not going to be bad but the edge along the roofline above the door frame will take some work. This is along side the JF body,,which at some point I will use but for the car I want to replicate it simply would not do. As the rear area on the decklid is just to far gone Edited July 23, 2012 by gtx6970
gtx6970 Posted July 23, 2012 Author Posted July 23, 2012 Here is the JF body along side. The Plymouth script on the rear edge of the decklid is non usable. Plus the JF body uses the shape of the Dodge body for the forward edge of the decklid which is wrong
