retroguy Posted July 26, 2012 Posted July 26, 2012 I'm building the lil red wagon, the instructions don't say what color the eng. block, tranny and heads I saw a pic showing yellow and was told hemi orange, any other suggestions...
1320wayne Posted July 26, 2012 Posted July 26, 2012 This is a tough question to answer 100% accurately. It all depends on what version of the LRW you are looking to build. In the picture below you see the engine from the later version truck that was candy apple red with the rear fender flares and wide rear slicks. The block is clearly some variation of orange but I cannot confirm what the exact color is/was. The heads are clearly later model aluminum heads and the bellhousing/trans. is clearly black. The restored version displayed in Garlits museum has a Hemi with the block and heads painted in what appears to be a candy tangerine along with a bright silver. borderline chrome, TCI transmission with old school fuel injection. Detailed pictures of the older versions are hard to come buy with engine shots. Hope this helps.
Alan Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 (edited) Nobody builds the later version nor the very early version either, I have only seen one over the years. Most build it as the issued kit. Edited July 27, 2012 by Alan
gtx6970 Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 WAAAAAAAAYYYYYY to many incarnations over the years of the vehicle to be able to pinpoint it down to one color. Pick th eone you like and go with it. If I remember right , I think the last version I saw run the engine and trans both were black. Remember,,, back then Race cars changed from week to week as rules permit and track conditions allow, not to mention new and improved parts came out on a day to day basis
JunkPile Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 Just a bit of info...this kit takes alot of time and work to make cool. The box stock type build just didn't look right
retroguy Posted July 27, 2012 Author Posted July 27, 2012 thanks guys,I appreciate the info... Junkpile, have you built one,got any pics or ideas,shoot...

What's that you say? I did this version a number of years back. This one was done by my dad. John Teresi unknown builder

JunkPile Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 Sorry about not getting you a reply last night. I was trying to post a picture for you as requested. This would have been the first for me. No luck. Maybe better chance next time
