So, what you are saying is that the silicone you are using does not fully cure against your master tire, is that correct? I don't even know what the silicone is I use! I get it from Aeromarine in Cali. I use the one that has a purple activator. I don't have any curing problems.

Platinum RTV is very finicky when it comes to inhibtion in curing. Are you pouring it against vinyl or rubber tires?

its reacted to both so far.

Platinum Cured Silicone RTV rubber is very susceptible to both sulphur AND contamination from tin-cured RTV! For platinum-cured RTV to set up properly, use mixing bowls and spatula that have NEVER been used for mixing tin-cured RTV, and if using clay, make certain that it's a completely non-sulphur-containing clay!

I ran into this problem back when I was casting professionally, did as I suggest here, and had absolutely NO problems thereafter.

Some rubber and vinyl compounds will inhibit the cure of platinum silicones. If inhibition is occurring with your particular material, the only options are to use a sealant on the master (acrylic lacquer works well), or switch to a tin-cured silicone that will cure against just about anything.

I just use Dow HS-III; no problems to report regardless of material; ie aluminum, resin, kit tires.

That's what I use, too. Hanven't had the first problem with any tires I've done, other than my own lack of talent in making molds. But the silicone cured just fine.
