Edsel-Dan Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 Looks nice. I have one to restore too. Had a Promo, but Wesley's strip tank damaged her terribly! Softened-Rubberized the body, and Shrunk the convertible boot cover to almost the size of one in 1/48 scale!! curved it like a banana too!! Got the Kit to replace it, but missing many parts. And How did you get so lucky to get the complete rear bumper?? Both the promo & built kit had the upper points broken off!! I was looking at using the Lindberg 61 IMpala Frame & windshield on the promo till the strip tank disaster. Now looking at the AMT 62 Impala set for the kit. I prefer the Hubcaps from the promo over the 8-lugs myself. Managed to get a set too. Now just to get the other parts, and Maybe I can do half the job you did!!
59 Impala Posted April 8, 2013 Author Posted April 8, 2013 Thanks fellas for the kind words. Dan, I have no idea how lucky I was. When I laid eyes on this thing at the show I just had to have it. It was almost all there. The fender spears and the original air cleaners were missing and I was hoping for an up top but it wasn't there. Anyway, I really wanted this car and I traded the guy an unbuilt mustang, in the box, for it. He was happy and so was I. He has a Johan 70 Roadrunner that I need also. I need that cause I have one plus a GTX that are both missing a lot of parts and I could make some resin parts from the doner. Dan
Deathgoblin Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 This one came out really nice. Especially considering the shape it was in when you started.
59 Impala Posted April 8, 2013 Author Posted April 8, 2013 Thanks Brian. See ya at the next meetin. If you can come visit us at the Hobbyland store in Graceland Mall on Friday nights. We kinda have fun there every Friday night. We either build or mostly just talk, but we do enjoy the company. Dan
Ron Hamilton Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 You did a wonderful job on that one. I hope that mine comes out half as good!!!!
59 Impala Posted April 9, 2013 Author Posted April 9, 2013 Thanks Ron. I'm sure that yours will come out just fine. Got any pics of it? Dan
421gto Posted April 9, 2013 Posted April 9, 2013 Nicely saved & finished, always look better with the 8 lugs.
