Mike Kucaba Posted August 19, 2012 Posted August 19, 2012 Here's whats happening. I have a free photobucket account and have been uploading to this for a while with no problems. Now a couple days ago I was trying to upload some pics and saw they have a bulk uploader for Mac. I tried to use it,went thru all the motions and finally get to the end and it says the bulk uploader doesn't support my OS-X 10.4 system.(my mac is from 2005,and uses the power PC chip, not intel) I have also been getting error warnings when I do an upload in the usual way that the file didn't load ,yet there it is later. Anyone use an older mac and a photohosting site that supports it ? I know PB is a free service and I probably should be content that I'm getting some use from it,except they keep wanting me to pay and go to their pro service.
Guest G Holding Posted August 19, 2012 Posted August 19, 2012 PB bulk uploader is optimized for Firefox....Does not work well with IE9 either. PB wants us to use Mozilla....I am not sure why, but that is what I was told at PB.
sjordan2 Posted August 19, 2012 Posted August 19, 2012 (edited) I have an intel core duo iMac with OS 10.4 and have no problem with Photobucket using Safari. I haven't used the bulk uploader, though there's no problem clicking on multiple images to upload. As of the past few months, Firefox no longer supports this old OS, and Explorer stopped supporting Mac years ago. Edited August 19, 2012 by sjordan2
Mike Kucaba Posted August 19, 2012 Author Posted August 19, 2012 All this is happening using Firefox with PB . I haven't tried the bulk uploader with Safari & PB. I'll be going to a local Apple store to see what they suggest short of a new computer. That's not priority now. thanks for the responses!
sjordan2 Posted August 19, 2012 Posted August 19, 2012 (edited) Firefox may be your problem. I got a Firefox updater automatically sent to me a few months ago, and once I installed it I found I couldn't use Firefox any more because it didn't work with 10.4, and there was no way I could reinstall the prior version because it's obsolete. No problem since I went to Safari. It's just another browser and still works with 10.4. But there are all kinds of apps, etc., that you can't use unless you upgrade your OS, and it's just going to get worse. No need to get a new computer, just get a newer OS. I don't know what the limitations are concerning your particular system. Edited August 19, 2012 by sjordan2
Mike Kucaba Posted August 23, 2012 Author Posted August 23, 2012 Photobucket said they are going to try and create a work around for this and they did suggest that they found an upgrade to 10.6. I haven't checked it out yet,but I bet it is for and intel chip machine. On a better note, someone in my community has a later iMac that does have the intel chip, but a bad hard drive, and I can have it for free! If I can get this unit up and running for $200-$300 I'll be all set.
