Marc @ MPC Motorsports Posted September 1, 2007 Author Posted September 1, 2007 Hey Marc, great project and cool link for Jr's car..I'm betting he's having a lot of fun with it!!..I usually don't post pics. in my replys but here's one I just did using HOK Planet green and Black Met. since you mention it as a possible color choice ..anyway looking forward to seeing how this turns out Thanks for the pic, Brian. Since I've now decided on Tamiya TS-20 Metallic Green, I'll file this image for future reference. The Tamiya Metallic Green is a little more "green" to my eyes and more what I'm looking for for this build.
Steve H. Posted September 1, 2007 Posted September 1, 2007 just FYI, Brians pic is a bit bright because of the flash. I've seen it in person (and shot a sample myself) and its a med. Grass(?) green, very nice color.
Scoopdaddy Posted September 1, 2007 Posted September 1, 2007 Hey Marc, Talk about a flame belch'n, tire burning beast ! This ride is going to be great. Good job on the fab work. I can't wait to see the finished car. Mark
Marc @ MPC Motorsports Posted September 2, 2007 Author Posted September 2, 2007 Before I get too carried away on finishing the bodywork for primer, I need to make sure the interior fits properly, especially when one starts bashing parts from other kits. I'm using the kit interior tub, but with some changes. The first change is to use the dash panel from the "new tool" AMT Baldwin Motion Camaro. Had to make several mods to get it to fit, but it looks much better than the kit part and will be easier to put photoreduced gauges in the instrument panel. Removed the center console and filled in the holes. Removed the rear seat too. I'll fill this space with sheet styrene, a roll bar and possibly some audio equipment. More updates to come later this weekend.
Marc @ MPC Motorsports Posted September 3, 2007 Author Posted September 3, 2007 I filled in the missing back seat on my AMT Camaro with sheet styrene. I need to shoot some primer on this to see how close it is. Next is to scratchbuilt a roll bar. I'll use the race cage from the MPC Second Gen Camaro annuals for a guide.
VW Dave Posted September 6, 2007 Posted September 6, 2007 Thought of you right away when I saw this one on Sunday, Marc: Green is a very good color choice for it, although I'm sure you knew that already.
camaroman Posted September 6, 2007 Posted September 6, 2007 Check out the new issue of Camaro Performers magazine (Sept 07). There is a really nice 2nd Gen Camaro in factory green in there. BTW i really like the LOOK you are going for.......
Marc @ MPC Motorsports Posted September 9, 2007 Author Posted September 9, 2007 Scratchbuilt a four point roll bar for the Camaro. Used Evergreen tubing with brass rod insert. Had some minor breakage at the top bend that I repaired with CA mixed with Microballoons. Down bars attached with white glue for the pics. Simple, yet effective. More to come...
