m408 Posted August 11, 2007 Posted August 11, 2007 O.K. Gang. This may sound really stupid, but just thought that I would put it out here for your consideration and comments. What if I used one of those electric rotating tooth brushes for final rub out and polish? Seems to me that it would be much like a 1:1 final finish buffing. It would get into all of the nooks and crannies and easily controlable. Years ago when I first started building model cars, I used toothpaste for a final rub. Did a good job and the cars smelled good. Am I just getting senile in my old age? Or is this worth trying?
jeffb Posted August 11, 2007 Posted August 11, 2007 i bought one at the dolla store to use with brasso. it worked pretty well, cept i let it get too dry and it left chatter marks. i havent tried it with wax yet but i think it shoud work with it too.
TSK Posted August 11, 2007 Posted August 11, 2007 I use one of those battery operated tooth brush instead of the proverbial "old tooth brush". I found it makes quick work of cleaning model parts prior to painting.
ramonesblues Posted August 12, 2007 Posted August 12, 2007 I've used toothpaste for years to rub out enamel paints, it works great. I use a soft cloth and rub by hand.
RapidRob Posted November 24, 2007 Posted November 24, 2007 I've used toothpaste for years to rub out enamel paints, it works great. I use a soft cloth and rub by hand. Would toothpaste work to buff out & polish a "roughly done" Testors spray clear coated enamel finish? Rapid Rob
