Austin T Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 How much would the little engines, controller, electrical wiring, brass tubing, ect. cost?
MAGNUM4342 Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 Couldn't tell you, but that setup would be great for a Herbie!

Ace-Garageguy Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 I don't see any control cables, so my guess is he's running a multi-channel RC system with micro servos intended for electric model airplanes (very small and light). The 'rolling' motion also looks like it's achieved by 'circling' a joystic-style input device, common on RC planes. Here's a starter link to a company that has a lot of this stuff. They have RC parts and small elecrto-mechanical parts for robotics. http://www.hobbyengineering.com/DeptEM.html
NoobToNovice Posted April 29, 2015 Posted April 29, 2015 Jevries is a legend. He was in some of the low rider bicycle mags when I was a teenager. I think this is a 6 channel build where he modified servo motors. Look up on the u2be, " model car servo hydraulics " I think you'll find it all there. Find a multi channel controller and its plug and play I guess... youll certainly need to build a worm gear and differential... I have some diagrams of hobby motors and hi-low 3wheel switch boxes... I could post I guess... try and find this on youtube. I'll have a look since I'm waiting on paint atm... Here is jevries website if you haven't done the leg work http://www.jevries.com/videos.html I think this real deal 64 was his first build so he says. I'm also really interested in the builds he has done for nearly 20 years!!! He has his own company now. just.. fyi. Tubing can be had at craft stores for 5 bucks or less or same place as --- > Servos can be had at a decent r/c shop. They are modified to spin 360 and plastic housing trimmed down to fit. Most people seem to be out of the T-bar craze and are now using the servo build. Hobby motors are still implemented to create the hopper. And the car is driven with a hobby motor as well. Not from what I gather, are the servo builds alone hoppers. Oh and by the way these are also using u-bar axles. I feel like I'm preaching to the choir now... l8r and best of luck.
fantacmet Posted April 29, 2015 Posted April 29, 2015 Jevries has TONS of how to video's and such all over the place. If you message and ask him and he see's it, he'll answer. He's a heck of a nice guy in the dealings I've had with him.
