MAGNUM4342 Posted September 28, 2012 Posted September 28, 2012 Just a quick question here, is the 1968/69 AMT Roadrunner chassis a good replacement for a 1971/72 Roadrunner? I'm getting started on a 1971 Petty build and i'm in need of a chassis. I have the AMT chassis on hand.
Fat Brian Posted September 28, 2012 Posted September 28, 2012 It's close, all of the the B body mopars got updated for 71-74 but nothing changed enough that anyone but a mopar expert will notice it. If you have the newer AMT 71 Charger it would be the ideal choice but again the chassis were so similar I doubt anyone could spot the difference.
MAGNUM4342 Posted September 28, 2012 Author Posted September 28, 2012 (edited) I actually do have a couple of the AMT Charger kits on hand. Thank you for that tip since I can now put the RR chassis back into it and build it at a later date. Edited September 28, 2012 by MAGNUM4342
Fat Brian Posted September 28, 2012 Posted September 28, 2012 No problem, a lot of people don't realize that the Charger was a B body also and shared platforms with the Road Runner, GTX, Belvedere, Coronet, etc. I think since it was only offered in a two door body and it doesn't share any sheet metal people think it was a stand alone platform.
