Ace-Garageguy Posted March 28, 2013 Posted March 28, 2013 (edited) I've had a set of high-end micro twist-drill bits in the size range you mention for 20 years. Haven't broken one yet, even though I used them for years drilling out real Weber carb jets. The set sells for about $40 today. Cheap tools are usually trash. Real machine-shop quality is going to be pricey. http://www.mmsonline.com/products/solid-carbide-micro-drills http://www.bigkaiser.com/micro-drills.php BUT BUT BUT ...these should be decent...The oxide finish (black, not bright) works well in plastic, if you're drilling by hand with a pin-vise. http://www1.mscdirect.com/eCommerce/SearchServlet/Holemaking/Drilling-Drill-Bits/Drill-Bit-Sets/_/N-77h4j?refinement=4294960022&searchandizedOk=N¤tMSCtt=61+to+80¤tRawInput=61+to+80%A261+to+80¤tMSCtk=All_MSC¤tMSCtx=mode+matchallpartial Edited March 28, 2013 by Ace-Garageguy
southpier Posted March 28, 2013 Posted March 28, 2013 what are you trying to drill? don't forget rate of feed and tool speed go hand in hand.
zenrat Posted March 28, 2013 Posted March 28, 2013 Work out what sizes you need and how many of each and then go to a proper tool shop rather than a hobby shop. You'll pay less and they will be better quality.
Erik Smith Posted March 28, 2013 Posted March 28, 2013 Walthers. I get mine at a train hobby shop. Very good bits. The cheap amazon tools are total junk.
