Brandonion1985 Posted November 29, 2012 Posted November 29, 2012 Got a kit thats missing tail light cover any tips on how to make a new one for my 95 camaro. Going to be tinting them black so the color is not a big deal.
Chief Joseph Posted November 29, 2012 Posted November 29, 2012 Ideally, you'd find another kit and get the part you need or find someone who has that extra part. Since the one taillight cover you have is handed, you can't just make a mold and cast a copy for the other side. I would recommend using epoxy putty to fill in the taillights on both sides and sculpting the contour of the lenses into the putty with carving tools and sandpaper. Maybe someone has that model and can give you a replacement. Good luck
Draggon Posted November 30, 2012 Posted November 30, 2012 (edited) Joe has a pretty good idea. They have a lot of compound curves so scratchbuilding would be difficult at best. Use putty or bondo, then just paint gloss black. You could also foil the taillights, paint clear red, then top with Tamiyas smoke. I cant post the pic, but heres the link to a set of tinted covers.
