W-409 Posted April 18, 2013 Author Posted April 18, 2013 Thanks guys, you are too kind. Darryl: I'd be happy if I could get at least one build completed without big breaks when the model is just sitting in the box for a few months time. Otherwise I like the style I build. Dave: Yeah, those straps turned out better than I thought. Usually they need one or two times of repainting before I can be happy with them.
buxxx69 Posted May 3, 2013 Posted May 3, 2013 Out of curiosity......How does one polish the body after the decals are in place? Did you laquer gloss coat the body?
W-409 Posted May 3, 2013 Author Posted May 3, 2013 Yep, after the paint and decals were dry, I Clear Coated the body with Maston's clear from spray can (Same Manufacturer's clear and paint). You must paint a bit thicker clear coat, so there is material to polish, otherwise it will go through clear coat to paint, and that does not look good. But of course, too much clear isn't good either. Then I tape the tight curves before polishing, so it will not go through clear so easily from those places, and get to work. I hope it helps.
buxxx69 Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 Thats amazing. I will keep this in mind for future projects. But that laquer and paint is European. I may have to stick with Tamiya.
W-409 Posted May 8, 2013 Author Posted May 8, 2013 Yes, Tamiya works fine (Or better, haven't tried to polish it) too. I have painted one car with Tamiya paints, but never have polished Tamiya paints, which is next in line I hope...
W-409 Posted May 13, 2013 Author Posted May 13, 2013 Thanx Tom! Glad to hear this build has inspired you. It is always great to hear or see that people can enjoy my progress and/or finished product.
lillakev Posted May 17, 2013 Posted May 17, 2013 My favorite picture. You can almost hear that Hemi rumble.
W-409 Posted May 18, 2013 Author Posted May 18, 2013 Thanks Kevin, and yes I must admit, that shot turned out better than I expected.
