d.k.v Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 This is a '62 Chev BelAir drag car project iv started. It has had the whole roof section and rear wheel well moved backwards around 10mm and i think it give a diffrent but good look. Stock Chopped Mocked up Waiting for some styrene rod to arrive so i can start the chassis. Thanks for looking
RAT-T Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 LOOKS COOL! I LIKE THE REAR WHEELS MOVED BACK, MAKES THE CAR LOOK LIKE IT'S LEANING FORWARD
d.k.v Posted January 5, 2013 Author Posted January 5, 2013 Is there a way to tell what kit this body is from?
W-409 Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 (edited) I guess it's AMT '62 Chevrolet Bel Air. Never seen any other '62 Bubbletop Model Kits. Edited January 5, 2013 by W-409
d.k.v Posted January 5, 2013 Author Posted January 5, 2013 I've seen 4 different amt kits are they all the same body? I'm looking to get another to build a matching pair but one stock one heavy mods
hemi Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 Yes the 62 bubble top has had many different boxes but all the same kit.
d.k.v Posted January 6, 2013 Author Posted January 6, 2013 That's bad news. The parts fitment on the nose of this body has always been rubbish and my chopping of the roof hasn't helped. Looks like some more major front end work is needed. Do you know if either of the 62 belair super stock kits have any different motors in them?
W-409 Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 The engines are the same I believe. My dad has that Dave Strickler's Old Reliable '62 Chevy Super Stocker, but I don't have any experience of the Hayden Proffit's Super Stocker. But since the manufacturer is the same, I believe that there are no differences. Revell's new '62 Impala has different looking Super Stock Engine, but both are 60s style. If you are planning to do today's Super Stock engine, you have to do some modifications to those engines.
