m408 Posted September 7, 2007 Posted September 7, 2007 My models are not show quality, but I do display them in my home. Not "under glass", but just on shelves. What do you folks recommend for periodic dust removal? I think that I have seen this subject before, but can't find it again.
cruz Posted September 7, 2007 Posted September 7, 2007 Hey Milt, there comes a time that no matter how many times you clean them you will never get to the tough areas to completely do a neat job of removing the dust. The only way to go is enclosing them in cases or anything that keeps the dust away. The other problem you will have is the constant breaking of small parts every time you handle them for cleaning..........

m408 Posted September 9, 2007 Author Posted September 9, 2007 but a can of compressed air, used carefully, will go a long way toward reaching all the cracks and crevices... Nice idea. How about those little vacum deals that they use for computer key boards? I'm not to worried about little parts falling off. Almost no p/e used. My detail work stops at engine wiring and some fuel lines. Like I said, not "show" stuff.
bobss396 Posted September 10, 2007 Posted September 10, 2007 I keep mine in closed cases but still dust sneaks in at times. I use a make up brush to get most of it off. Those canned air things are pretty good too. When I was a kid, I would fill up the bathtub, put all my dusty models in for a while to soak, then take them outside to dry. It usually worked out ok, sometimes parts would fall off though. Not recommended for anything but worst case scenarios. Bob
