By the way, the wheels are really really hard to squeeze into the tires, so I am hoping my paint will not get scuffed or wrinkled on the way in.

Can't you sand the hole in the tire to enlarge it a tiny bit?

Posted

David, it can be done, but the tires are so beautifully cast that I don't want to take any chance with them, other than sanding off their sheen and making them look a bit road weary.

Looks like a great kit i will definately pick one up. drilling out the ports makes them look 10x better and nice touch with the crank in the front!

Billy Gibbons! :D

On that note... am I the only one a bit confused by the fact that Frank Beard is the only guy in ZZ Top who doesn't have a beard?

Not necessarily...

Virgil... I like where this build is heading...Looking good so far. Did you drill the holes in the interior or did it come like that in the kit?? Digging It!

A 'Cranky-shaft' frame-horn spreader-bar. Kool !! This thing does look like it's worth the price of admission for the parts, but the relief on the firewall appears to be pretty shallow in these pix.

I absolutely love those wheels! How did I not notice the crankshaft spreader bar? That is just too good! You just blow me away with how you have a vision from the beginning and it all fits at the end. I'm excited!!! I want to see your guitar Doc, please, please!!!!

Chris, I drilled them out. Took a while, but it looks better.

I will paint the guitar last, I think, as the crowning last touch. We still have a ways to go. Spent the day spraying primer.
