tjones87 Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 Its coming along nicely...going to be sweet once its built. great scratch work as well...I have expanded my skills a bit doing my Camaro build..but no where near this...I don't even know where to start at attempting this kinda work, may have to get you to do this setup for my little D50 Ram lol......keep it up man
tribalgt03 Posted February 6, 2013 Author Posted February 6, 2013 bro..Ive just been wing'n it...lol.. as you can see this is my 3rd and final frame..if I had a game plan i'd probly be painting by now..lol,but I like it like this..Im learning as it breaks..lol..like in real life its all trial and error, but if plastic breaks its cheaper and I always have glue and putty..
tribalgt03 Posted February 6, 2013 Author Posted February 6, 2013 trust me you can pull this off too..spent 5 bucks on some evergreen plastic..measure,cut and glue..well at least im measuring it now..lol..I wasnt to serious at first..then I seen the detail of some of these other people and thought wow modeling can get really detailed...I think my hands are to big for that kinda stuff..but im trying anyway..lol
tribalgt03 Posted February 6, 2013 Author Posted February 6, 2013 its late once again, but I got a little more done to the back...I wanted to chop off the front and get to work on the front suspension...then I had this idea and this is the end result
Davewilly Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 Looking great so far..keep up the great work!
tribalgt03 Posted February 6, 2013 Author Posted February 6, 2013 (edited) Little slow at work and found one of my old s10 pics of my many s10s..lol...this was a junkyard money maker..we called it the redneck rocket, because we usually raced fox mustangs...the one behind me in the profile pic is one of the few it was a high 11 daily driver..never consistant on the bottle 12.20's was the average, but this s10 I never got to the dragstrip we just did a lot of grudge matches with it on Reno & Sara Rd in Oklahoma City...google maps it and you can see where the street is prepped like a dragstrip by the valvoline plant..lol....always around 1 to 4am lots of older guys went there with put up or shut up money during winter when tracks were closed,so this little s10 went a few rounds then I sold it...No speedo....just the necessities..lol..this build reminded me of this one that I totally forgot about..the 5.0 I wanted it to look like BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH..it was just more fun on the street that way..lol..ended up taking that driveline out of it and installing it in a caged car..I had a hollowed out toolbox nitrous bottle cover too..lol Edited February 6, 2013 by tribalgt03
tribalgt03 Posted February 7, 2013 Author Posted February 7, 2013 here is some more work done to the front..I also want it to be functional like the rear
tjones87 Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 looking better every time I check this thread out....I have put all my builds on hold...cant seem to get the motivation right now.... on another note...My car maybe up for sale in a few weeks...lol thought I'd give ya the heads up lol
JasonFL Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 Everything's looking real good. I like what your doing with the rear end set up, your moving right along. Keep it going.
kilrathy10 Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 Looking good, Man...I see you're having fun with it...Keep it up...
gautreau Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 Great looking build so far. I'll be following this one.
tribalgt03 Posted February 7, 2013 Author Posted February 7, 2013 Ive gotta head to work in about 30 min,but this is what im working on before I go..got kids sports tonight .may not get a chance later..I was messing around with a color combo for the engine, but Im going to drill through the a-arm and run a bar through it too..then break it loose with the ends of the bar glued to the frame..then it should move up and down..hopefully..lol
tribalgt03 Posted February 7, 2013 Author Posted February 7, 2013 work was slow today and It was raining anyway,so I did a little work to the model..Im almost finished with my scratch built fuctional coil overs..i'll show those later...and thanks for the compliments everyone..this is turning out better than I thought..actually I think I have a new hobby..lol
tribalgt03 Posted February 7, 2013 Author Posted February 7, 2013 (edited) I did a few things to the body too..door handles, gas lid and front windshield vent, but far from done..lots more sanding and sanding to do..lol..got the back half in putty too Edited February 7, 2013 by tribalgt03
tribalgt03 Posted February 7, 2013 Author Posted February 7, 2013 1st functional coilover!!!!!!!!!!!!!..lol,,..I'll paint n detail them later...just makin sure they work for now
tribalgt03 Posted February 8, 2013 Author Posted February 8, 2013 Coil overs look good. Nice job. thanks..I wasnt to sure if this was gonna work....the wire I used to make the spring stays pinched when I lower it,but If I leave it in 1 position technically doesnt mean its not adjustable..lol
tribalgt03 Posted February 8, 2013 Author Posted February 8, 2013 Coil overs look good. Nice job. BTW where did you find a c10 model at?..I want one of those to build too..I just won a bid on ebay for a nissan hardbody, but since I slammed this truck im going a different route on the new nissan model when I finish this..plus I really like how you have your 4 link triangulated over the DS..
tribalgt03 Posted February 8, 2013 Author Posted February 8, 2013 got home late,..didnt get much done, but had a few ideas and started on them..smooth bed floor..doing the coils on the back...I was thinking since the rear actually works and im happy with that ... I want to add more detail,so I might make it stationary and just go for detail
tribalgt03 Posted February 8, 2013 Author Posted February 8, 2013 (edited) Got an update for the front end..this is just a rough idea of it..far from finish.. Edited February 8, 2013 by tribalgt03
tribalgt03 Posted February 9, 2013 Author Posted February 9, 2013 A-Arms are done..the front is coming together nicely...trying to figer out how high to mount the turbo,so just half of it sticks out
tribalgt03 Posted February 9, 2013 Author Posted February 9, 2013 Im excited about how its coming along...have a few ideas..made a FMIC mount..might add more putty to make a design when my dremel bits get here
