Bowtienutz Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 I picked up the re release of AMT 67 Shelby Mustang. I'd like to paint it the factory color called Candy apple red. OK I know the Factory didn't actually use candy but what would be a reasonable alternative for a non Candy that would match the ford color without breaking the bank at the local paint jobber ? Vince
High octane Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 I would paint that "Pony" Tamiya's Mica Red followed by a coat of Clear Red.
Craig Irwin Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 Try Dupla-Color, Ford also called that color Rangoon Red, Carnival Red, Fiesta Red, and other names.
Longbox55 Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 Another one that's a match to that color is Minneapolis-Moline red, which can be found at any farm supply store. BTW, Ford Candyapple Red is not a metallic.
martinfan5 Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 (edited) If you have an Air Brush, you can get Ford Candy Apple red from Scale Finishes , click the drop down menu for 1967 http://www.scalefinishes.com/mustang.html Edited February 5, 2013 by martinfan5
