raildogg Posted February 16, 2013 Posted February 16, 2013 Just got my new big rig cleaners from Shapeways. I designed them in Solidworks coverted to an stl. file uploaded and chose my material, polished aluminide, and viola I can finish my KW900 wrecker. Enjoy
Chief Joseph Posted February 16, 2013 Posted February 16, 2013 Looks great! Just curious, but why did you choose this Alumide material over the Frosted Ultra Detail or Strong & Flexible material that's used to print most scale model parts?

raildogg Posted February 17, 2013 Author Posted February 17, 2013 (edited) I chose that material hoping to polish it up , but no biggy, plan to try out Alcad(sp) anyways. Yeas there is some weight to it but no so much as it will over power gluing. I had two printed, a LH and RH units, at about $32.00 for both, pricey ,yes, but next time I'll go with FUD. Live and learn! Edited February 17, 2013 by raildogg
Lownslow Posted February 17, 2013 Posted February 17, 2013 hollow it out if youre going FUD you can go up to 1mm wall thickness the thinner the cheaper
NormL Posted February 17, 2013 Posted February 17, 2013 Alumide does not have enough aluminum to polish (obviously), it does raise the heat capability quite a bit
