ajwheels Posted February 23, 2013 Posted February 23, 2013 (edited) I tend to start these things and get to a certain point and then something else pulls me away, but I will try to take this a bit further.............. I'll get some other pieces primed and then start fitting things up.......... Tony Edited March 20, 2013 by ajwheels
ajwheels Posted February 23, 2013 Author Posted February 23, 2013 And here is a bit more.............
ajwheels Posted February 23, 2013 Author Posted February 23, 2013 Set the transaxle into the frame and it seems to sit just fine............
ajwheels Posted February 24, 2013 Author Posted February 24, 2013 Here are the rear suspension arms and rod-ends............
ajwheels Posted February 24, 2013 Author Posted February 24, 2013 Rear suspension arms onto the frame.............
ajwheels Posted February 24, 2013 Author Posted February 24, 2013 Rear hubs and hub-carrier pieces................
Ace-Garageguy Posted February 24, 2013 Posted February 24, 2013 Great looking work so far. At first I thought the transaxle and the bike frame were for two separate builds.
ajwheels Posted February 25, 2013 Author Posted February 25, 2013 Hub carriers in place..............
ajwheels Posted February 25, 2013 Author Posted February 25, 2013 Coil-over pieces....... These parts have no real prep, other than a light coat of primer, so they'll get a little attention prior to paint.........the springs are really more of a place-holder.........the shock-body pieces fit together with a keyway feature.....insert and turn 90 degrees, and then they are captive..........put a real spring in there and the part functions........I won't do that here, for the half-shafts I have are fixed........
ajwheels Posted February 25, 2013 Author Posted February 25, 2013 Coil-overs attached to frame and suspension arms.................
Austin T Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 Just found this,now I'm watch'in. What's your choice for the power plant?
rmvw guy Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 A trike!!! Didn't see that coming although, should have with the trans-axle I guess. Makes sense now, I'm tuned in.
ajwheels Posted February 26, 2013 Author Posted February 26, 2013 Austin.............the engine will be 6 cylinder, air-cooled, from an obscure German manufacturer...............
ajwheels Posted February 27, 2013 Author Posted February 27, 2013 And to slow this thing down occasionally, here are the rear brake pieces.........
Austin T Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 Austin.............the engine will be 6 cylinder, air-cooled, from an obscure German manufacturer............... Cool,I like the obscure stuff.
ajwheels Posted February 27, 2013 Author Posted February 27, 2013 Austin, I hope I don't disappoint, but I was kidding about the "obscure" part...............it will be a Porsche motor................maybe a little obscure in a trike................ Now, perhaps I should look into an NSU Wankle..........that could be cool.................
ajwheels Posted March 1, 2013 Author Posted March 1, 2013 Here are the brake parts fitted up.................
ajwheels Posted March 1, 2013 Author Posted March 1, 2013 And here are the half-shafts.......... And with them in place, most all of these fit-checks seem good........little issue with what appears to be half-shaft length, but is really rod-end related........easily adjusted, or so I think.......... Now I can get into some color on these pieces...........and of course, start sorting through the engine parts................
Austin T Posted March 3, 2013 Posted March 3, 2013 Are you scratching all of this? This is just some amazing work!
ajwheels Posted March 3, 2013 Author Posted March 3, 2013 Are you scratching all of this? This is just some amazing work! Austin........thanks for the comment.............these pieces are 3D printed..............
ajwheels Posted March 3, 2013 Author Posted March 3, 2013 This is where I get excited...........a bit of color and I want to see it all together............... But I must be patient, for I need to spend some time on the engine parts..............
ajwheels Posted March 5, 2013 Author Posted March 5, 2013 Here is an image of the engine case pieces.............
ajwheels Posted March 8, 2013 Author Posted March 8, 2013 A few cylinder barrels........ Then test fitted onto the engine case pieces........
