progplastic Posted February 28, 2013 Posted February 28, 2013 Anybody got any Ideas on what material to use to make 1/25 scale ribbed blower belts. I have been to craft stores to trift stores and have come up with nothing. How about ribbed blower pullys? Any guidance would be greatly appreciated . thanks

progplastic Posted February 28, 2013 Author Posted February 28, 2013 I've been looking a long time for these,Thanks Andy..
progplastic Posted February 28, 2013 Author Posted February 28, 2013 Just got done going through there site. Looks like they want like $8 - $9 dollars each belt. The same goes for there pullys. I was looking for a cheaper alternative since most of what I build is drag. That could get pretty expensive..
Guest G Holding Posted February 28, 2013 Posted February 28, 2013 Paper or masking tape cut to width. Glue pre cut pieces of stock to the inside and spray flat black
southpier Posted February 28, 2013 Posted February 28, 2013 go here: http://straightlinemodeler.org/tipseng.html about halfway down - Gilmer belts
kalbert Posted February 28, 2013 Posted February 28, 2013 Building one from strips and tape seems super tedious. Instead of getting a belt exactly the right size, Could you maybe get just one or two really long belts and cut them up into multiple blower belts? It might me more cost effective that way.
TooOld Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 Before you throw that old printer in the trash you might want to look inside . Both these belts came out of my old Lexmark , more than enough for a couple dozen blower drives ! Click on the photo for a closer look !

This is where I learned how to....really goes quick, with a sharp blade.
progplastic Posted March 1, 2013 Author Posted March 1, 2013 Some great tips guys I'm gonna research them all. Now how about ribbed blower pulleys and iderler pulleys..?
my80malibu Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 You could make up a belt from scratch, and then resin cast it in soft resin.
southpier Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 get a smooth undersized pulley and add crosspieces just like the belt. like bellybuttons; ones an innie, the outher an outie!
mnwildpunk Posted March 2, 2013 Posted March 2, 2013 I was hoping someone would speak up. I know one of the members used to sell ribbed belt material. But I can't recall who or the name of his company. Have you looked in the resin aftermarket section?
