Will I still need adhesion promoter

Hi all I'm kind of old school when I first started building them as a kid,and used the tester paint with a regular hobby brush. But If I was to scuff the model panels and other parts will I still need the adhesion promoter to use my water base paints like wicked and trident paints.? Thanks a lot in advance.

I use water based paints over primer for some things. Anything but the body is typically fine.

Thank you Deathgoblin That's what I'm working on now is the body of a 55 Ford F-100.

Use a good primer, most WB will work over a primer base....I use Auto Air with Duplacolor lacquer base
