Djacobson Posted March 30, 2013 Posted March 30, 2013 I have a truck I am building and when I put the wheels on, they don't all sit flat...like the frame is slightly twisted. Is there a trick that will help all four wheels sit evenly? Thanks in advance for comments and suggestions.
my80malibu Posted March 30, 2013 Posted March 30, 2013 It depends on what stage you are at in the build, If you have just started, then you can attempt to get the frame back to where it is supposed to be. If your at the completion stage, then you should have "test fitted everything before you got to this point". Then you will have to make adjustments at the wheel backing plates, enlarging the mounting holes will allow you to move the wheel up or down where you need it to be.
slusher Posted March 30, 2013 Posted March 30, 2013 Check the frame and make sur it touch every where it should if you have installed it. if you have just put the wheels on twist the frame slighty in the oppiste direction untill its level...
Pro Wrench Posted March 30, 2013 Posted March 30, 2013 I've had some success straightening warped frames and bodies by putting them in almost boiling hot water to make them pliable then twisting them straight and either holding until they cool or weighing them down some way if possible. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Can't hurt to give it a try. Just have to be careful not to break anything.
Steven Zimmerman Posted March 30, 2013 Posted March 30, 2013 Sometimes you can test fit forever, but when you hit final assembly, you get the dreaded 'one wheel in the air' syndrome....get out the shim stock and fix it !I have also found a 'slightly warped' frame can be glued in place and sits on all 4 wheels...Bottom line, there's no one single sure fire way to fix this, just trial and error.
