I take a toothpick and sand the first 1/4 inch down to a really fine point.

Yep... What Roger said... sharpen up a wooden toothpick. I've been using them for years to apply CA glue and to do really small detail painting..

I'm a toothpick user too, but, being a diabetic, my old insulin syringes with 29 gauge needles make good applicators also.

Take a small sewing needle and cut or grind half the eye end off. You end up with a tiny two pronged fork perfect for holding and applying glue where you need it. You can mount it in the handle of your choice.
